Alegria - The Festival of Joy - 28th January 2013 to 1st February 2013 - Press Coverage
Mahatma Education Society's Pillai Group of Institutions conducted 'Alegría - the Festival of Joy' from the 28th January to 1st February, 2013 at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai's Campus, New Panvel.
'Alegría - the Festival of Joy' is a multi-institution mega festival, created with the goal of providing a platform for our students to demonstrate their wonderful and sometimes hidden talents and skills.
Numerous esteemed personalities from Bollywood, Artists, Academics and Industry graced the occasion and it was widely reported by the press across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The fest culminated with a rocking performance by Akcent during the final night. A few press clippings are given below.
IGCSE Results 2012
Hearty Congratulations to our outstanding achievers and their parents.
5 of our students achieved distinctions in the IGCSE Examination held in May 2012. Indeed a remarkable result achieved by our first batch of IGCSE students. Heartiest Congratulations to the entire batch of IGCSE students for their wonderful performance in the IGCSE Examination.
Two students secured admissions in London Universities, one amongst whom, was the only one amongst thousands of students to be awarded a scholarship worth 15.5 lacs, thus launching DPGA in the global academic scenario.
Baichung Bhutia Academy
Here at DPGA, we have tied up with the “Baichung Bhutia Academy” to teach our kids to experience the joy of playing football. It has been our distinct pleasure to conduct a press conference during the inauguration of Baichung Bhutia School, where Mr. Baichung Bhutia was the chief guest.
Metamorphosis: Early Years Lower and Middle
As rightly said by William Yeats, “Education is not the filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire”.
Metamorphosis 2011-2012 was a display of the transformation of the little darlings from Early Years Lower and Middle into the individual personalities that they are developing themselves into.
Graduation Day: Early Years Upper
As said by John Updike, “you cannot help but learn more as you take the world into your hands. Take it up reverently, for it is old piece of clay with millions of thumbprints on it”.
Graduation Day was the culmination of the Early Years programme where children were honoured for their documents by bestowing upon them with the Graduation Day certificates. This event marks their advent into the CIPP curriculum in the following years.
SAIBSA Meet-2012
DPGA hosted the first ever historical meet of west zone coordinators on March 31st 2012, the emphasis being on coordinators networking with each other. This reflects IB philosophy and mission statement. The participants exchanged views, ideas and resources for the enhancement of the IB ethos and culture.
X-ub-erance-II , 26th November 2011
Dr.Pillai Global Academy, Borivali, hosted its second annual cultural festival, X-ub-erance-II on the 26th of November, 2011. The festival comprised of activities and events for students in the categories of music, art and dance. All the events were held in the school premises. This interschool festival received an overwhelming response from various schools across Mumbai. It was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp followed by a motivational speech by Ms. Sharda Sharma, the Associate Director of the school. The Music and Art competitions for the students followed shortly thereafter. Mrs. Neelima Azeem, an eminent film and television personality as well as an accomplished Kathak dancer was invited as the chief guest for the show. She is also the mother of the famous Bollywood star, Shahid Kapoor.
Mr. Franav Pillai, the Deputy CEO of Mahatma Education Society was the guest of honour for the evening.
All the three categories received an enthusiastic response from the schools across the city. Children exhibited immense confidence and talent in their respective fields. Some of the art works portrayed by the children were indeed breath- taking. Mrs. Sharma was extremely pleased by the display of talent by the young children. She said that the main aim of organizing an event was to motivate the children and to make them confident to face any level of competition. She also opined that competitions at such a grand level as these prove to be a great source of encouragement for talented minds. Mr. Maurice Coutinho, the Principal was also delighted with the efforts put in by the children. He remarked that hard work never goes unrewarded. One must keep on working in life and have a positive outlook. With these elements, our talent will take us to places.
The event concluded with the closing ceremony that had the Rock Band and a Solo performance by the winners. The folk dance and the Western dance participants also got an opportunity to perform in front of the huge gathering. Mrs. Neelima Azeem thanked the school for inviting her to the grand event. She was amazed by the hard work put in by the school to enlighten the future of the students. The event ended with a performance by the Dr. Pillai Global Academy Rock Band, “Generation Zero”, and the Prize Distribution Ceremony. S.M.Shetty International School won the awards in the Art Category while Dr. Pillai Global Academy bagged the Music awards.
