| Dr . Pillai Global Academy, Panvel celebrates 1st Annual Day |
On
the 20th of February, 2010, Navi Mumbai’s first IB World School,
Dr. Pillai Global Academy, New Panvel, celebrated their 1st
Annual Day with great splendor and fanfare. The programme commenced with
a Bharatanatyam recital (Ganeshavandan) by Ms. Neetu Venugopal,
an IBDP student. This was followed by the formal function, in which Mr.
Jeffrey Goldberg, Principal, Dr. Pillai Global Academy welcomed the gathering.
Dr. Lata Krishnan, Associate Director and IBDP Coordinator, then presented
the Annual Report of Dr. Pillai Global Academy. A beautiful audio-visual
segment showcased the major achievements and happenings of the school
throughout an eventful first year of its life with the Navi Mumbai community.
The prize distribution for the young talents of the school was conducted by
Ms. Seeta Desai, Director, and Ms. Bandana Basu, Associate Director and
IBDP Coordinator. Ms. Seeta Desai also introduced the book ‘EduNation’,
by the CEO of Mahatma Education Society, Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, about
his insights into education in India and all over the world. The formal
function was concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Beena K Thambi, CAS
Coordinator. The tiny tots then toddled onto stage for a multicultural action song, directed by early-years teachers Ms. Celin Xavier and Ms. Sharmila Pereira, with all of them dressed in a costume representing a world culture. The miniature Roman senators, American cowboys and Eskimos won everybody’s hearts. The
next performance was an enactment of Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice”
by the senior students, who amazed the audience with their enthusiastic
and talented portrayal of the characters. This play was directed by Ms.
Shameem Mulla and Ms. Renjini Adhikari. The fashion show which followed the Shakespearean play, was themed on Egypt, and was unique and a colourful treat for the eyes. It was conceived by Ms. Dipti Vij, Annual Day Coordinator. Dr. Pillai Global Academy’s 1st Annual Day concluded on a high note with the appreciation of parents and all guests who were witness to this occasion. |
